A little of Hatay.
Sea air, long conversations and something good on the table. Here’s a little introduction to Hatay, and to Arsuz, our corner of it.

A drawn impression of the region, from the coast to the table.
Meet Hatay.
In southern Türkiye, Hatay brings together Mediterranean, Anatolian and Middle Eastern influences. Its position along historic trade routes helped shape a culture where food, craft and conversation have long crossed paths.
Antakya’s heritage includes Roman mosaics and generations of different communities. Those layers are part of what makes this region feel so distinctive.

Arsuz, between
mountain and sea.
Arsuz sits between the Amanos Mountains and the Mediterranean. The coast is a big part of its appeal, while the ancient settlement of Rhosus adds another layer to the town’s story.
From Sekiz Oda, let the day take its time. Walk around the neighbourhood, stop for a coffee and leave a little room for a swim or a long lunch. Ask us what’s happening locally when you arrive.
There’s always
room at the table.
Hatay joined UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network for gastronomy in 2017. The food reflects the region’s many cultural connections, with local herbs, spices and recipes passed between generations.
Start with breakfast: olives, cheese, fresh bread and a glass of tea. Take your time over the small dishes, try zahter salad and ask what’s in season. There’s no rush to leave the table.
